Flamingo Area Costa Rica
Flamingo Bay Area is located on the northwest part of Costa Rica, in the Guanacaste province. Driving time from San José (capitol city) is approximately 4 1/2 - 5 hours, on the Pan-American highway.
Flying time from San José is 45 minutes. The closest airstrip to Flamingo is the airstrip in Tamarindo, then 20 minutes by car to Flamingo. Scheduled flights and private charters are also available.
Prime Time
For many years the best time to fish out of Flamingo has been June - August. September and October will be really good months for yellow fin tunas on the 200-plus pounds, with a good change for sails and marlins as well.
Inshore Fishing
Flamingo Bay area is also well known for an excellent light tackle fishing during all these months.
Rooster fish, Spanish mackerel, barracuda, snappers, groupers, Amberjack, wahoo and many more species you can find around the "Catalinas" and the "Bat Islands"
